I was LUCKY enough to be Torsten's first official tipi guest, and it was the highlight of a three week trip to the UK. Make sure that you give yourself enough time in this beautiful part of Scotland. And if you really want an experience hire Torsten as your personal tour guide; from sites of natural beauty like Randolph's Leap and the river Findhorn, to the estates of Darnaway and Ferness, the paleolithic Cava Cairns, beautiful gardens, there is so much to see. No matter what your interests or energy levels are, Torsten is a generous host and guide. You MUST stay here. High end camping at its very best!
Thank you Torsten for a most fantastic time!

We spent two nights in Torsten's Tipi and it was wonderful!
Torsten is a very nice guy and tried his best to ensure we had a great stay.
It was our first time sleeping in a Tipi but it won't be our last! The night sky in late summer was also something unforgettable (I uploaded a photo so you can enjoy the view!)
I'm looking forward visiting the Tipi again and can't wait to try the new whisky-barrel hot tub

I've been on several trips with Torsten, each one has been as exciting and inspirational as the next! As he has lived in Scotland for over 20 years he has discovered some of the countries most beautiful and not well known places that you wouldn't get to see on your average tour. I highly recommend him and I am looking forward to my next tour with him!

Spent a few days at Torsten's retreat, he has a beautiful property and is a great host. The tour he took my friends and I on was great, including the Loch Ness, a few castles and some ancient ruins... We all had a great time, and would recommend a trip with Torsten to anyone!

My girlfriend and I have just finished a weekend tour with the owner of Experience Scotland, Torsten and we both agree that we had just experienced Scotland in a very magical way. I have lived in scotland my whole life however had not really taken the time to travel this country very much, my girlfriend is Azeri and had been here a few times so thought this was a perfect opportunity for us both to see some of the beauty that was right on our doorstep.
I contacted torsten to check his availability and what he had to offer and after listening to his recommendations, we decided that his tour to Skye sounded perfect, starting with a night in the Tipi
His base camp, just outside Forres, is perfect for de-stressing before the tour commences and he has styled his surroundings to reflect his own personality. We sat around the bonfire for hours just chatting and enjoying the serenity before spending the night in the Tipi.
Next day we had breakfast and packed up the van and as soon as we were on the road I was discovering things about my own area that I had never known about. Torsten shows a great interest in the sights and locations that are on his tour and is keen to relay this to his customers. Although he has obviously visited these sites on numerous occasions we saw that he was still very keen to share in our experiences and emotions as we were absorbing the surroundings.
Torsten will basically tailor the tour to individual requirements and is always making suggestions for photo opportunities or for good areas to go walking in. We were not really big walkers but we trusted torstens judgement and found ourselves in some really amazing places. He has the great benefit of having friends all around scotland who have given him great knowledge of local secrets that made such a difference to our trip. The night we camped in Skye was just perfect and I never knew that such a place could exist.
From start to finish this trip could not have been any better, Torsten will adapt to any requirements and his enthusiasm never dipped. If you decide to sign up for one of his tours you will not be disappointed and you will take back memories that will last a lifetime.

I stayed in the tipi for 5 days and also booked Torsten for sight seeing. He is genuinely interested in learning what a person wants and designing an custom itinerary to places you would never know existed. He is not so much one for historical details and statistics, but very knowledgeable as he has been living in the area for ~25 years. He has lots of connections and happy to use them to make a special experience rather than pushing "tourist traps". Very easy going and fun to be around.
For me, I got to do the hiking and biking I wanted, in addition to personal tours of major sites, including Loch Ness and dolphin watching! Up-and-coming attractions on his property are his hot tub (made of the biggest whiskey barrel I've ever seen) and an outdoor kitchen that could be used for events and BBQ s.
Book him!!! Best thing I did.

The owner, Torsten, gives people the freedom to craft a magical experience. He really cares about what each person wants rather than providing a cookie-cutter tour. He has a beautiful serene property with tipi and barrel-turned-hot tub that is perfect for families and groups to get away from it all and relax. He also has a 7 seater van and 27 years of experience in the area. I wanted to do hiking and biking so he took me to the best spots, prepared great meals and taught me tons about the area. He is originally from Germany but has been in the area so long he has a unique perspective. Combined with his warm, mellow and attentive attitude, he makes the perfect tour guide.

I had a wonderful holiday with Torsten in the time I spent with him. I came to his place during the Chinese New Year, and he took the initiative to make it special by bringing me to a loch and eating the Chinese New Year treats I had brought, while providing some Scottish whiskey.
This was only one of the many things he had done to make my trip extremely memorable.
What is great about Torsten is that with him as a tour guide, he does not only bring you to the best places off the beaten tourist track, but that he also recounts the personal significance of these places to him as he grew up in the area. That way, he imparts an unforgettable sense of humanity to an otherwise beautiful, but impersonal, scene of picturesque villages and vast untameable landscapes.
He also makes a special effort to customise these trips for you. I knew that I wanted to experience Scotland's wilderness, and Torsten helped to plan the tour accordingly, listening to my input and giving advice when he thought he knew of better places. When a blizzard killed off my original plan of going to The Cairngorms, he suggested an alternative place along the coastline, and I was not disappointed in the least. All in all, I felt like I could not have been given a better and more personalised trip.
If you want to avoid the typical tourist traps, if you want to make your holiday worth it, and if you ever want to Experience Scotland Differently, you could do no better than to look for Torsten. In the short time I spent with him, I know I definitely made a new friend, and would be more than willing to show him around Singapore should he ever drop by.
