Visit The Isle of Skye
Many people visiting Scotland want to see the Isle of Skye, but if you only have one day in which to see it, I can take you there in one day! It is a longer day than some of my tours, just because it takes a while to get there. The scenery on the North loop of the island holds the best views, so on this tour I tend to stick to this part of the island. We start the day in Inverness, and travel up Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle, with a short stop here so you can see the castle. From here we continue along to Eilean Donan Castle. Again we will stop here for a short time, so you have the chance to get a photo of the castle. Continuing north, we will cross the Skye Bridge over to the Isle of Skye. Our first stop on the Isle will be at Sligachan, where you can get a beautiful view of the Cuillin Hills. A real breath-taking piece of scenery! We will travel up to Uig, and visit the wonderful Fairy Glen. This is a beautiful naturally occurring landscape, well worth a visit. From the Fairy Glen we will cut across the high moors towards The Quiraing, an ancient landslide along the Trotternish Ridge, and in my opinion one of the most stunning landscapes in Scotland. From there we will visit Kilt Rock, a basalt rock formation, which resembles the folds of a kilt – hence the name! From here you will get a view along the coastline to the Old Man of Storr, one of the most iconic landscapes of Scotland. From here we return down the Great Glen (it’s good to see it from both directions) where you again will have the chance to see some of the resident wild goats of the area.
